Rudder: FINISHED

2015-12-28

The Rudder is FINISHED! Counter weight installed, skins bended and riveted. Now it has to rest with the trailing edge sealed.. Both rudder fairings have been pop-riveted in place (Section 12: EMPENNAGE FAIRINGS).

Trim Mount Bracket

2015-12-17

Today I managed to fabricate the Trim Bellcrank Brackets and the Trim Cable Anchor Brackets from the aluminium angle provided in the kit. After that all parts incl. the Trim Mount Bracket have been primed and assembled. The elevator trim servo (Ray Allen type) was installed and tested on the trim mount bracket.

Tailcone: FINISHED

2015-12-17

Today the upper skin was riveted to the tailcone structure; first half of the skin was accessible from the outside, for the remaining rivets I had to crawl inside of the tailcone which proved to be comfy as long as you are laying on some of pillows. You could even take a nap inside

The battery rack incl. the Elevator Bellcrank & the Elevator Pushrod have been bolted as well. The Elevator Pushrod was primed with a 2K Epoxy Primer – smells like hell but gives a good finish.. I plan to use the 2K Primer on all pushrods.

Inside of the tailcone, ready to go with the bucking bars. Some paint had to be repaired as well:

Our latest addition

2015-12-15

The last weeks we have been struggling with the small compressor; the small one was immediately depleted (especially during boring – this takes away all the air) and was very noisy as well. Here is our new addition (big and quiet).
